TOP 3 Notable Games:

3. South Carolina 14 @ #1 Georgia 24 / #10 Alabama 17 @ USF 3

- Both teams were slow to start on Saturday, Georgia was down at halftime 14-3 at home to the Gamecocks, Alabama tied 3-3 in the rain in the South Florida. But both offenses and defenses woke up in the second half shutting out both opponents in the second half, outscoring South Carolina 21-0, and USF 14-0.

2. #15 Kansas State 27 @ Missouri 30

- Tied 27-27 with seconds left in the game, Harrison Mevis nailed a 61-yard field goal to defeat #15 ranked K-State in a back in fourth battle Saturday afternoon. Mevis’ kick set an SEC Record in longest field goal made in conference history.

1. #11 Tennessee 16 @ Florida 29

- A 20-point second quarter jumped Florida out in front of Tennessee early, and the Tennessee offense led by Joe Milton was stagnant only putting up 9 points in the second half trailing 20-7. Trevor Etienne (Travis’ brother) had 172 rushing yards and a touchdown with a 62-yard touchdown run in the 1st quarter.

Summary:

Conference play has started, and it’s already off to a good and interesting start with another unranked team knocking off a top 15 team with Florida’s dominant win over Tennessee. The SEC also stole an unranked win with Missouri getting the last second win over #15 K-State setting a SEC Record with the longest field goal made in the conference’s history. The slow starts from Alabama and Georgia says that given the right opportunity no team is safe in the conference from an upset, will we see a surprise on top of the SEC West and East by this years end?

Summary:

LSU has reclaimed its spot as the ‘runner up’ to Georgia in the conference after a convincing win at Mississippi State, and Tennessee’s beat down in the Swamp against Florida. Alabama still has not solved its riddle of who is the leader of the Tide at the quarterback position, and Ole Miss is quietly sneaking up the poll possibly solidifying its #3 spot with a big road game at Bryant Denny Stadium Saturday at Alabama. Missouri also left bottom dweller status after the Top 15 win over Kansas State. More conference games are on the horizon and the standings and polls will reflect the hierarchy of the conference in the coming weeks.
