British NFL Star Jermaine Eluemunor Hosts Youth Camp in Birmingham
BIRMINGHAM — April 17, 2025 — New York Giants Offensive Tackle Jermaine Eluemunor returned home to the UK on Wednesday to host his first-ever youth camp in Birmingham in partnership with the NFL Foundation UK and Sport England.
Held at Green Lane Playing Fields, home of Pitch 2 Progress, the camp welcomed young people aged 8-16 from four NFL Foundation UK partner groups in Birmingham and Manchester. Led by Jermaine, participants from Saathi House, BSCA, Foundation 92 and Pitch 2 Progress took on six exciting drill stations, such as an RB Relay, WR Routes and QB Net, before showcasing their skills in a series of competitive NFL Flag games.
Following the conclusion of the NFL Foundation UK partner group session, Jermaine opened the camp to members of the local community free of charge. Families and friends were able to try the drills and activities with help from coaches, providing many with their first introduction to NFL Flag.
The current New York Giants player, first became interested in the NFL after watching the Giants play the Miami Dolphins at Wembley Stadium in 2007 on TV, in the first ever NFL regular season game played outside the U.S. Achieving his dreams of signing for the NFL team he supports, he hopes the camp can set other young people on the same path by engaging them in the sport for the first time.
“It’s been a great day here in Birmingham,” said Jermaine Eluemunor, New York Giants, Offensive Tackle. “I feel privileged to have been able to meet and have fun with so many incredible young people, and hope events like today can only be the start of their journey in the sport I love. I want to say a huge thank you to the NFL Foundation UK and Sport England for without their partnership, days like today would not be possible.”
The NFL Foundation UK partnered with Sport England in 2023 to provide joint grant funding to deliver NFL Flag programs in co-created partnerships with local community charities in Birmingham and Greater Manchester. Each bespoke partnership seeks positive outputs and outcomes for young people around education, employment, building inclusive communities and improving physical and mental wellbeing.
Flag football’s inclusion in the LA 2028 Olympic Games led by efforts of the International Federation of American Football (IFAF) and supported by the NFL, further underscores its rapid growth. Flag football is the world’s fastest-growing sport, played by over 20 million people in more than 100 countries, across six continents. It is the most inclusive and accessible format of football, played by people of all ages and genders, with female athletes driving some of the fastest growth.
