NFL UK IS READY FOR 2023 NFL KICKOFF 

NFL UK has fans covered this season as the 2023 NFL season gets underway

September. 7: The 2023 NFL KICKOFF is today, and NFL UK has got fans covered ahead of this action-packed 104th season of the National Football League. UK fans won’t miss a single moment with comprehensive coverage across Sky Sports, ITV, Channel 5, NFL Games Pass on DAZN, talkSPORT and BBC Radio and online, plus NFL channels.

 

On Your Screens

  • The Sky Sports NFL channel (Sky channel 407 / Virgin Media channel 507) will broadcast over 100 games live throughout the regular season and Playoffs as well Fantasy Live, Good Morning Football, Total Access, Hard Knocks and other team all access shows. NFL RedZone will be available on Sky Sports Mix, for all Sky customers.

  • Join two-time Super Bowl winner Osi Umenyiora and former NFL player Jason Bell, with new host Craig Doyle, every Friday evening on ITVX from 19:00 or ITV 1 from 23:00 as they bring you the latest stories and news from around the league in 'The NFL Show', plus a selection of live NFL 2023 London Games across October on ITV 1.

  • Sunday 1 October: Wembley Stadium, Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Atlanta Falcons

  • Sunday 8 October: Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Buffalo Bills vs. Jacksonville Jaguars

  • Sunday 15 October: Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Tennessee Titans vs. Baltimore Ravens

 

UK & Ireland NFL Players to Watch

Follow the journey of players flying the flag for the UK and Ireland across the 2023 regular season, including:

 

David Ojabo: Linebacker, Baltimore Ravens

  • Entering his second year in the league, David Ojabo impressed in the playoffs, securing a sack. Will be playing against the Tennessee Titans in London on October 15.

Efe Obada: Defensive End, Washington Commanders

  • Raised in South London, Obada became the first player from the NFL International Pathway program to make a 53-man roster in 2018.

Jermaine Eluemunor: Offensive Tackle, Las Vegas Raiders

  • Now in his third season wearing silver and black, he will be looking to build on a strong 2022 in which he achieved the most snaps of his career, at 940. 

Jamie Gillan: Punter, New York Giants

  • Fondly known as ‘The Scottish Hammer’, Gillan signed a new two-year contract with the New York Giants back in March.

Graham Gano: Placekicker, New York Giants

  • After 14 years in the sport, Gillan’s teammate and fellow Scotsman, Gano is the proud holder of multiple franchise records. The most recent of which was achieved during the 2020 season where he set a new record for the most consecutive field goals made for the New York Giants.

Daniel Whelan: Punter, Green Bay Packers

  • Signing with the Green Bay Packers in May, Daniel Whelan will be the first Irishman to play in the NFL since Neil O’Donoghue four decades ago.

 

NFL Academy UK

The NFL Academy is a major global initiative by the NFL, established in 2019, that uses American football to create life-changing opportunities for young people around the world. The elite football development program, for student athletes aged 16 – 19, combines full-time education with transformative life skills and character development, alongside intensive training in American football.

 

Headquartered at Loughborough’s world-renowned center of sporting excellence in the UK, the program is delivered in partnership with Loughborough College and Loughborough University. The program will support 62 students from 13 countries across the 2023-24 academic year.

It promotes elite football performance and player pathway opportunities, with students working to secure football scholarships to U.S. colleges throughout the academic year. Since its inception more than 40 students have secured college football scholarships in the US. 20 NFL Academy UK alumni will play NCAA football in the 2023–24 season.

The world-class coaching team includes Head of NFL Academy, Lamonte Winston (Kansas City Chiefs and the Oakland Raiders), Coach Steve Hagen (New York Jets and the Cleveland Browns) and Kris Durham, Head of Football NFL Academy (Seattle Seahawks and Detroit Lions).

The NFL Academy will play IMG Academy in Loughborough on October 6, before taking on Erasmus Hall at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on October 10. Both games will be streamed live and available to watch on the NFL YouTube channel.

NFL Flag

As one of the fastest growing sport disciplines in the world, flag football is played by over 20 million people in more than 100 countries. The non-contact format of the game is accessible and inclusive, with women and girls driving some of the fastest growth. Flag football in the UK is enjoying some exciting growth, with 477 schools and 28,800 players participating across 26 regions. Flag football is now also played in secondary schools. NFL Foundation UK

The NFL Foundation UK uses the power of sport to reach communities to help achieve positive outputs and outcomes for young people around education, employment, building inclusive communities and improving physical and mental wellbeing. There are live projects with 21 local organisations across London, Manchester and Birmingham, and reaches 6,250 young people, 51% of those being female.

 

The program delivers NFL Flag football training and equipment to help young people aged 12-20 access positive pathways and develop the skills, confidence, and self-belief to create their own future, impact society and reach their potential.  NFL Flag is proven to be a strong engagement tool with diverse and underserved groups, in particular young people.
