In this episode Gareth is joined by Quinton Flowers. Quinton in back in the XFL and in Florida having previously been a former USF player and Tampa Bay Vipers Player. Gareth asked about how this opportunity came about for Quinton and he said,

Basically, I went to the combine. At first, down in Tampa and I went there and showcased my talent. I did well and did everything the coaches told me to do as a quarterback. Was told to throw and show what I can do. After that, I’d say once the season started I didn’t watch any but I was keeping up with certain teams as I have friends that played. Guys that played with me in college and that was on the XFL team and I finally got my shot. Not a shot but a call from the team saying that they needed another guy and I was that guy who fit for them.

Gareth also discussed how important was it for Quinton to be still playing in the sunshine state. They also discussed the irony of his first opponent was vs a team called the Vipers with him being a Viper in XFL 2.0. The game itself was a tight fought game which ended in a narrow loss but Gareth asked Quinton how important it was for himself to get on the field and make some plays. Quinton said,

It helped a lot, just knowing that I’m capable of playing whenever the coach asks me. Running back, slot, quarterback. Quarterback will always be my first option but the coach called me in and wanted me to find a way to get us into the End zone and I’m that guy. So it was me going out there and doing anything at my best ability and with everything to get us into the end zone.

A discussion in the importance of having such good weapons such a Cody Latimer and how this helps him settle in to his role. Quinton also discussed the relation in the Quarterback room and how well they are all getting on currently. Gareth also asked Quinton about how much of a difference there has been between XFL 2.0 and XFL 3.0. Quinton said,

They are alike. There isn’t anything different. The only thing really is how they run the 1,2 or 3 point plays conversions. That is kind of different but I don’t see to much different. Football is football. You cannot go out there and over think it and try and be a mastermind at it. As you never know what is going to happen. You’ve got to play that one play a time.

They also discussed the how Quinton stayed motivated following the collapse of the XFL 2.0 and how he kept himself ready for this opportunity and how it is an exciting time for football fans with the XFL, USFL and other new leagues and how important it is for the NFL to have these developmental league. Gareth asked Quinton how important it is for players to have these other options. Quinton said

I think it is very important. It is a slim chance when you get out of college and only a certain amount of guys make it to the NFL. When I got in and got done, I started looking back at what my friend said, Marlin Matt on a visit to Disney World to talk to some kids. He basically said, the NFL means Not for Long. When I got outside of the NFL and went to the XFL I started think that it is kind of true he is talking about. You are not going to play this game for more than 20 years. It is very tough because it is physical football. You can go out there and physically hurt someone and not really get into trouble for it. It is a little window that guys having with the USFL, XFL coming out they are getting this spotlight is really good for a lot of the guys.

This weekend Orlando has a very tricky game in Seattle and Quinton talked about that game. Tickets are available at XFL.com/tickets. Make sure you get your tickets to support your Guardians!!
